Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir is an Icelandic footballer, who currently plays for Olympique Lyonnais. Sara is currently Iceland’s most-capped player in the history of her country. In 2020, she was named the Icelandic Sportsperson of the Year, becoming the first woman to win it twice. In the same year, Sara became the first Icelander to win the UEFA Women’s Champions League with Lyon.
In 2021, Sara became a mum for the first time and consequently the first mum to be on our women’s football roster. As of March 2022, Sara was back playing for her country and club just 4 months after giving birth.
